Releasing the Spirit of Might in You

For years, I’ve read Mark 3:27 through the traditional lens of spiritual warfare:

“No one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. Then indeed he may plunder his house.” (Mark 3:27)

The usual takeaway? The “strong man” is Satan. Jesus is the one who binds him, plunders his house, and rescues the captives. And yes, there’s truth in that.

But lately, I’ve been hearing a different whisper.

What if the strong man isn’t always the enemy out there, but the power of God within us that’s been bound, silenced, or divided?

What if the “house” is our own being?
And the “plunder” is the fruit of our lives; our gifts, our relationships, our purpose, our strength that has been stolen by fear, trauma, pride, or shame?

In that light, this verse reads differently. The strong man isn’t Satan. It’s me.
It’s the version of me made in the image of God. Regenerated in Christ. Full of might. Full of purpose.
Full of power.

But here’s the twist: that strong man can be bound. And when he’s bound; when my will is broken, when my courage is hijacked, when my voice is silenced, the enemy doesn’t have to attack me. He just walks in and takes what he wants. My peace. My confidence. My clarity. My authority.

So now I’m asking a different question:
How can the strong man, how can the Spirit of Might, be released through me?

Because I believe that’s exactly what Jesus came to do. Not just to bind the devil, but to unbind us. To release the “strong man” inside, the image-bearing authority, the Spirit of Might referenced in Isaiah 11:2, the fire of God that was never meant to be caged.

And it’s not about striving. It’s about surrender.

Jesus doesn’t come to shame us for being divided. He comes to integrate us. To heal the places where we’re fractured. To restore the strength that’s been buried under lies, fear, and survival mode.

To release the strong man within means:​

  • Moving from a mindset of rescue to a mindset of resurrection.

  • Letting divine courage override the need for perfection, approval, or control.

  • Letting God’s strength hold you when your own strength runs out.

  • Letting the Spirit of Might rise in you to speak truth even when your voice shaking

Jesus didn’t just save you from the enemy. He saved you for something.
For might. For movement. For mission.

So today, I’m sitting with this new lens:
What part of me is bound?

What has been stolen from my house because my inner strength has been suppressed?

And how can I let Jesus release the strong man in me, so I can walk in Spirit-empowered authority?

This isn’t just a new interpretation. It’s an invitation.

To Know God. Be Strong. Do Exploits.
